"The Valjoux 92 (as well as the Valjoux 77) was different to many others of its time insofar that it has a "swivel pinion" (or tilting pinion) as a clutch. This was developed by Edouard Heuer in 1887 and is the clutch system that TAG Heuer have in their new Cal. 1887. It is also used in the most ubiquitous of chronograph movements, the Valjoux 7750, also in the Chronoswiss "Chronoscope". It is better suited to continuous running than the horizontal system (less wear) but the vertical system is best for that (less wear and less friction). Most older chronographs have the horizontal clutch, the modern ones tend to go for the vertical clutch system."
